Playground Visit - Beka, Oscar and Lola

Yesterday I visited Beka, Oscar and Lola at a playground in Red Hook NY. Oscar just turned 5 and Lola is 16months, so Oscar could play much more independently than Lola. I followed Oscar and showed me The Tower, and the slides. Under his direction, the playground turned into the Ferry to Block Island which was surrounded by treacherous waters.

Some observations and some thoughts from Beka:

  • Climbing is really fun

  • Different heights are really fun

  • Playing with the tangible objects on the playground was fun and they could be made into anything they needed to be (see photo below)

  • Anything that moved/bounced under food or with pressure was fun

  • Anything that took you from one place to another was fun

  • The swings we of no interest
