Conversation with Deborah Pinto Fdeda
Thank you Dana Elkis for reaching out to Deborah to see if we could chat!
Here is the list of questions I sent over to Deborah:
1. I am curious what your job title is? I see that you have done architectural work, exhibition design and curatorial work. Each project is so imaginative and beautifully done! I hope this question doesn’t seem insensitive, I just see that your career has allowed you to work on many types of projects and I would love to be able to do the same in my career.
2. What was your experience like making interactive exhibitions for children? Your project “Tangram: Complex Shapes” is really inspiring to me. I have been studying large objects, in the form of playgrounds or toys, that children collaboratively build with (ex: Rigamajig from Cas Holman, Adventure Playgrounds, Anji Play from Anji County China and Imagination Playground from Rockwell Group). I was wondering how much collaborative building and play was on your mind when working on this exhibition? What material are the blocks made from? And how did you get the opportunity to this project?
3. For your project “Playground in the Museum” I was wondering if you have had the chance to watch children (and maybe adults too?) play on it overtime? Is so, has their play been different or the same as you expected when you built it?
3a. I am so interested by the little hill that are part of the playground! Where did that idea come from and how were they built?
