Step 3 - Conceptual Package
For the past 2 weeks we have been working on our conceptual package where we are further developing our top 3 ideas and connecting them to a unified idea.
Our central goal is: Our goal is to leverage innovative technology used by the archeology team at Abydos to create interactive experiences that demystify life in ancient Abydos.
We each worked on specific parts of the conceptual package and then compiled them. I worked on the sketches
Idea 1:
Description: Physical models of artifacts with embedded RFID tags are displayed on a curved table. Users bring any object to the examination areas to trigger more information via virtual 3D models and video projections. Designed for all ages.
Message: Experience the disentanglement of information from various found artifacts as a necessary step to understand the history and culture of ancient Egyptians.
Ideas 2:
Description: Users control an interactive projection using sliders on the wall to move through different time periods of Abydos. The vertical sliders move up and down to reveal what the site looked like during that time, along with a cross section view of the past buried underground. Designed for children and families.
Message: Understand the relationship between the concepts of depth and time in the context of excavating artifacts from different time periods.
Idea 3:
Description: A round table displays a stacking timeline of Abydos archaeology site with layers of maps on plexiglass sheets. Each layer can spin out to help users inspect customized sets of information, accompanied by audio from speakers. Designed for teenagers and adults.
Message: Visualize the effect of history layering on top of itself, and allow users to process the stunning amounts of detailed information in each slice of time at their own pace.
