Week 8 - AR Prototypes & Ideas
This week we started working with AR using Reality Composer. This tool is pretty amazing, it allows you to quickly build AR prototypes using shapes/colors/behaviors etc that are built into the app.
We had to come up with three prototype ideas that would fit into one of these catagories or a new one that we came up with:
AR Health
AR Learning
AR Retail
AR Work
AR Entertainment
AR Culture - Museums
I was inspired to work on this idea because due to the current health crisis a lot of museums, galleries and cultural institutions are making their collections virtual. I was really impress by the British Museum’s virtual museum and I think that for certain types of collections AR is a great tool. I think it would work best for objects (anything 3D: artifacts, sculpture etc). I dont think 2D artifacts need AR because a website already works for them really well.
The objects in the below sketch/prototype would be 3d:
AR Learning - Archeology/Geology/Paleontology
I am always curious to know more about the places I am in by learning about what artifacts (anthropological, archeological, geological, paleontological) have been found there. It is also always interesting to hear the stories about what was found and the significance of that object. Objects can tell you about the many people, flora and fauna that was there before you.
AR Learning - Biology & Habitats
I am in The Hudson Valley right now and there is a pond near by which is full of life right now (tadpoles, salamanders, lots of bugs). This AR idea is inspired by this environment. This AR app would give users the opportunity to learn more about certain habitats.
